2009 Agenda

Our annual meeting has become the leading forum in Montana to learn about current issues that are important to all Montana taxpayers. Attending the meeting also provides a valuable networking opportunity for you and your co-workers.

Joe Crosby, COO & Senior Director, Policy of the Council on State Taxation, Washington, D.C. will give an update on multi-state tax issues. If you have had the opportunity to hear Joe before, we know you won't want to miss him this year. If you haven't, you are in for a lively and timely overview of the newest multi-state tax issues.

You will also get to hear about national public pension problems, accounting standards and alternatives other states are considering from Andy Richards, Practice Fellow with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, Washington, D.C.

One of your favorite panels is back. Patrick Barkey, Director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the University of Montana will cover Montana's economy and Terry Johnson, Principal Fiscal Analyst, Legislative Fiscal Division will update us on Montana's projected revenues and budget. Each year, their presentations provoke interesting questions and shape future discussions about the state of affairsin Montana.

Mary Craigle, Bureau Chief of the Census & Economic Information Center in the Department of Commerce will provide an informative overview of the 2010 Census. She'll explain why Montana is Counting on You.

We will end the day with a panel of experts who will address Medical Health Costs. Dr. Myles Watts, Montana State University will moderate a discussion on the underlying costs of health care in the United States and how these compare with costs of other countries. Dr. Christiana Stoddard, Economist from Montana State University and Dr. Gregg Davis, University of Montana recently concluded independent studies on health care costs, so you can expect up to date and new information.

We'll end the day with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments and an opportunity for you to visit with the speakers and other attendees.

We think you will find this year's conference a valuable source of information and ideas. We hope you will be able to join us.

Once again, we will be offering reserved tables of 8 for the luncheon. What a great way to include more members of your firm, other associates or state officials.
